Heading for Cape Point in Table Mountain National Park (South Africa) we expected to see ocean views as the cape is advertised as the place where two oceans meet…

(challenge question. What are the two oceans that meet here?)DSCF3612a

but we did not expect to see ostriches!

However, on the way to the cape,

we stopped at an ostrich farm…delightful!

Arriving at the park entrance to the Cape we find it has many facilities for the tourist.

It is easy to understand why most tourists end their journey here not realizing the actual Cape of Good Hope is just a few kilometres from here.

It is lunchtime so let’s have a bite at the Two Oceans Restaurant (where we expected and got excellent seafood.)DSCF3576aWhat we did not expect was the creative presentation of the salad!

After a relaxing lunch, it is time to board the funicularDSCF3582a

which will take us almost to the top of the point.

Lovely views as we climb up and up (glad I am not walking this!)

Here at the top there is still a bit of a climb to walk up to the lighthouse.DSCF3591a

Quite a bit of history here!

As we wander around the grounds, signs remind us that not all the creatures here are friendly!DSCF3616aI think this little guy is friendly…but I am not going to get too close!

After a visit to the gift shop up here at the funicular station, it is time to board again for the trip back to the bottom.DSCF3613a

(in the photo above we are half way down, about to pass the funicular coming up.)

Cape Point…the tip of Africa…a place not to miss.

One last look at this special area as we head back to Cape Town.DSCF3621a
