After driving through an area that looked like a desert,
(at least to me it looked like a desert…what do you think?)
we turned inland and found ourselves driving in a lush green forest.
Welcome to the spiritual rain forest in Iao Valley State Park,
on the island of Maui in Hawaii, USA.
Yeah, there is plenty of parking today.
What a beautiful place! All shades of greenery, sound of flowing water!
Lots of history associated with this spot.

The Iao Needle stands out for a variety of reasons.
This area must be so inspirational to an artist or a poet. It certainly has impressed us!
As we leave the park we are aware that the clouds are still “trapped” on the mountain tops. 
Somewhere I read how many centimetres of rain fall here every year…it is an unbelievably large amount! Must look that information up!
