Want to buy a carpet?

Attending a carpet show seems to be on most guided tours of Morocco…so let’s attend one.

Leaving the busy street we climb up a staircase…

and enter a large room. Notice the walls are covered with carpet.

Our host enters and begins an interesting talk about the carpet industry in Morocco.

We learn a lot about how the carpets are made, the various qualities of carpets, what to look for when purchasing a carpet, etc. It is quite interesting!

Then the show begins. Numerous staff members start unfurling carpets…with just a flick of the wrist (or so it seems).

Soon the showroom floor is covered with rugs of all shapes and sizes.

 

As soon as the show is finished each of us magically gets a salesman (very low key and polite).
