Smoky Mountains, Tennessee

Gatlinburg, Tennessee is the starting point for our venture into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.001- Let’s start by taking an 8 mile drive down the Roaring Forks Road. 014- It is a narrow one way roadIt is a narrow road but it takes you past some lovely views.

There are trails just behind Treetops Resort that I love walking…

and can spend hours taking photos of scenes like this.

On longer drives into the park we encounter scenes like these.023- A longer drive

One can understand where the name Smoky Mountains came from. As you look at distant mountains there often seems to be a smoky haze (but it is not smoke).

Running water…oh, how I love the sound of babbling brooks and rushing streams.
