The answer to your first quiz is..
the photo was taken in Chester, England.
Chester is in western England very near the border with Wales. If you are driving into Northern Wales, Chester is the last English city you probably will pass through.
The clock in the photo is the Eastgate Clock and sits atop Eastgate. Very logical if one thinks about it as this was the east gate in the medieval wall that surrounded Chester.
